The Facts About Facebook Marketing

Whether you are marketing your company online or offline. There’s one thing I can be relatively certain about. You probably have a Facebook account and 95% of your ideal prospects probably have one too.

But what does that mean for building YOUR business in 2011? I’ll tell you what it means. It means you would have to be completely nuts not to take advantage of the Facebook Marketing “trend” while it’s still growing. Because, make no mistake, Facebook is where your prospects are hanging out every single day.

To that end, I’ve put together a series of totally free Facebook resources for you dig into if you’re interested in learning more about the giant blue devil itself.

Facebook Find #1 : Video: Plain (But Shocking) Facts About Facebook Itself

When you watch this video you will see exactly what I mean by “giant blue devil”. By now, you should know that Facebook is much more than a trend, it’s rapidly taking over our lives. (By the way, there’s NOTHING FOR SALE here. This video was created by Alex Trimpe, a student at the Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) for class.)

While this video is short. I hope it serves as a “wake-up” call. Because Facebook is HOT right now. And that means that Facebook Marketing is HOT too. If you don’t have “gobs of time” to play around with Facebook Social Media Marketing then don’t forget that Facebook PPC Ads are still a crazy good way to get leads .  I wish I had something to sell you today, Maybe a step-by-step Facebook Marketing course for beginners and serious networkers looking to generate leads online. But I don’t.

Facebook Find #2 : Where To Find The “Press” Facts About Facebook Itself

Here’s another cool resource for Facebook Marketing fanatics like myself. It turns out that Facebook publicly posts their “press” statistics on this web page here for anybody who is curious enough to Google them. I was simply blown away the first time that I saw these statistics about Facebook. I had absolutely no idea how fast Facebook was taking over the world.

Facebook Find #3 : The “Secret” Facebook Developers Website

There’s another cool Facebook related website that most people do not talk about much. It’s the Facebook Developers site. If you visit the developers site you can “spy” on the Facebook marketing and branding tactics of some of the world’s biggest companies. We’re talking about CNN, TIME, IMDb, and the New York Times. It’s nothing “top secret” but it gives you a good idea of how big corporations are interfacing with Facebook on their websites. There’s also a bunch of forums for the technologically inclined. I’m amazed by what people are doing with Facebook these days.

Facebook Find #4 : This One Is Just For Fun Over The Weekend

Watched the Facebook movie, The Social Network, a couple weekends ago and it really blew me away. I highly recommend that you watch it too if you’re looking for a little bit of perspective on life, business, and what success really means in the end. It’s more of a drama than a documentary but “wow” is all I have to say.

If you already watched it, or want to leave some other resource suggestions, thoughts, or insights then I would like to invite you to leave a comment today. (If you would like to share this article with your friends on Facebook, that would be awesome too.)

Thank you. I hope to read your comments soon.

  1. I’m amazed by these Facebook facts… but there are other social networks growing fast I participate with.

Social network are great to build communities. However most of my friends on Facebook share nothing helpful for me, that’s the reason I mostly use other social networks where I have friends focused on internet marketing ;)

If you are from internet marketing world, friend me at http://bit.ly/hQR7Mk
I’d be glad to connect with you.

  2. I’ve always been pretty good at predicting what will happen next in social media and I can tell facebook is here to stay for a long time.

It’s a great platform to stay connected to friends and to share photos. There are some things that CAN be done better if facebook doesn’t step up their game.

Even though I’m guiltily of checking my facebook as soon as I wake up, these are some things that I could recommend that would make facebook even more addicting…

    1. Video Chat
    2. A better Chat Interface
    3. Bringing facebook Chat to mobile devices

    My thoughts,

  3. Now I knew Facebook was big but…this was totally astounding. There’s a good reason why I get most of my traffic now from Facebook.

Screw Google – this is where it’s at!

    Those are brilliant ideas David.

I had thought of the video chat option. That would be a huge deal.

I find I’m forced to disable chat options because of the huge amounts of time lost when checking personal messages. But I can easily see that catching on fast. Who knows? Maybe there have a plan to do so already?

  5. Courtney says:

    Haha.

Yeah, I’ve even heard people say that Facebook may give Google a run for their money. I’m excited to see what time will tell.

  6. wow,i had no idea how big this was getting,i knew FB was huge but didnt think it was anything like this, thanks for sharing

  7. Yes, Facebook is definitely the wave of the future, and not just for social interaction; it is the new place for internet marketing, as well. In time it will certainly give Google a run for its money.

  8. Karen says:

Facebook gave the World a way for all people to find those in their lives and those that have they have lost contact with from the past. That along with no membership cost. This was and is a good idea.
As the video shows it is a way for people to connect in many ways but they all seem to be in my opinion, just ways to become social.
I believe at this day and time Facebook is still not secure enough with so many issues to focus on. Beginning first for the User and then User’s confidence level to evolve into anything more.
Privacy policies, and the security issues that are spoon fed to us little by little still to this day, only proves the unforseen popularity of this new social network along with protecting its users was a factor that Facebook was not ready for.

  9. I knew Facebook is big but this video shows unbelievable numbers! As a business owner it looks like you are forced to go online as everybody is there :) Great video! I love it!

  10. Eamon says:

I Know how powerful Facebook is but what about Google plus. Will they get it right this time and if so what type of platform will they provide for business.
