How I Helped My Friend Get Rich with 3-Ways Print E-mail

I’ll start off by saying this as simply as I can.  Three-way calls work.  Three-ways calls help you learn.  Three-way calls can produce loads and loads of business for you.  Period.  

It boggles my mind how many people do not make use of this incredibly powerful tool to propel their business forward. 

 

I have found this to be fact.  Those people in my organizations that did the most three-way calls made the most money.  Those that consistently made use of this tool sponsored the most people.  There were no exceptions. 

 

Let me share a quick story with you.  I have a very close friend of mine that I began working with over a decade ago.  He was a struggling network marketer.  He wanted success, but he just didn’t have two critical things he needed:  skills and time.  He had all the potential in the world, but just didn’t know exactly how to play the game.  In fact, he came to me one day and said, “Todd…I’m going to quit.  I’m not making any money and I just can’t find the time I need to devote to the business to make it work.”

 

I knew this guy could do it.  I knew he had the potential.  In our discussion, I uncovered something very interesting.  He said he didn’t have the time.  So I asked him what he meant by that.  He told me he was commuting to work two hours each day. 

 

I was like, “What?  You’re in your car two hours each direction, 5 days a week?” 

He said, “Yep.  I am. 

I replied, “So Mark, what are you doing during your drive time?”

Mark said, “Driving and listening to talk radio.”

 

I basically went on to tell Mark that he had 20 hours a week that he was not making use of in his business.  I told him very simply, “Mark…max out your minutes on your cell phone tomorrow.  Get your leads ready the night before you go to work each day and simply prospect during your commute time and bring people to me.  I will show you how to do this business and start sponsoring some people.” 

 

He agreed and did exactly as I instructed. 

 

Over the next 12 months, Mark went on to bring literally hundreds and hundreds of people to me via three-way calls while commuting to and from work.  During that time frame, he went from earning virtually nothing to earning in excess of $10,000 per month. 

 

Why and how did this happen?  He made use of one of the most powerful weapons we all have at our disposal:  3-way calling!  He didn’t know the lingo, the phrases, the questions, all the little details that a pro might know, so he used me. 

 

Not only did Mark go from earning nothing to six-figures during that time frame, he learned how to become a master at prospecting.  Every time I was speaking to his prospect he was listening, learning and earning.  You can’t help but get good at something if you repetitively hear someone who is better than you are. 

 

The next year Mark went on to personally sponsor over 300 people into that company.  That is an average of more than 25 personally enrolled people per month, every month of the year.  He won every sponsoring contest.  He won every bonus.  He was the top recruiter in the entire company!  He blew me off the map!  Fortunately, he was in my group, so I wasn’t complaining. 

 

Mark is now a full-time network marketer and has been for years.  He lives in his dream home in North Carolina and has the lifestyle he always dreamed about. 

 

The moral of this story is this.  Use your leadership to learn and earn.  Make use of the people who have a financial interest in your success.  You will learn how to do this business much faster by working with people who may know more about building this type of business than you do. 

 

So…now that you know how important 3-way calling can be to your business, let me dive a bit into the details of this incredible little tool we all have at our disposal. 

 

Three way calls.  What are they?  Why? And, how to do them right?  There is definitely a right way and a wrong way to go about using three-way calling.  In order for you to get good at this whole game of prospecting, you have to master this simple tool now. 

 

First off...what is 3-way calling?  Two answers...the technical side is this.  Three-way calling is a service that you can have added, usually through your local phone company that allows you to be able to connect with an additional party, other than the person you are already on the phone with.  It costs just a few dollars a month, and you cannot live without it...period.  You absolutely, positively MUST have 3-way calling added to your phone service if you expect to thrive and survive in the network marketing industry.  There are no ifs or buts about it.  You’ve got to have it.  If you think you can’t afford it, forget one latte this week, and you’ve got it nailed. 

 

Here’s the basic gist of how it works.  You’re on the phone with a person...and you now want to bring in another person on the line.  You simply press the "Flash" button on your telephone.  In some cases you may not have a flash button, so you simply press the "Talk" or "On" button.  When you have 3-way calling on your phone it will give you another dial tone once you have pressed the flash button.  You simply dial the number of the other person you wish to reach, then press the "Flash" or "Talk" button again, and you are now on a 3-way call.  To disconnect and end the call with the party you have brought into the call, you simply press the "Flash" or "Talk" button again and it disconnects your second caller. 

 

Here is a BIG NO-NO that many novices make that you must remember to never, ever do.  Here’s the scenario.  You’re making dials to your prospects with you upline or sponsor on the telephone...meaning you are on the phone at the same time.  You’ve got your list and you're making calls together.  You hit the "Flash" button to go dial one of your prospects and forget to FLASH BACK to your sponsor.  You then get their voice mail or answering machine and leave a message, and THEN flash back to your sponsor.  You then proceed to have a conversation...where many times you are talking about that very person you have just called and left a message for...only to hear a "beep" that says, "your recording is complete".  In fact...most of the time, you probably won’t even hear that.  What did you just do?  You just left a message of you and your sponsor talking on the telephone to your prospect.  It is bad news and a bad impression.  Do not make that mistake. 

 

Here’s a tip for NEVER, ever making that mistake.  You’re on the phone with your sponsor...you press flash, dial the number of your prospect, IMMEDIATELY press flash once you have completed dialing their number, and say to your sponsor "Back".  That means you are back together on the line.  You should BOTH be hearing the phone ring.  Then...if you get their voice mail, leave a message.  When you are done leaving the message, press flash again.  This will disconnect your call with the prospect or

prospect’s answering machine.  I even like to double-check that I did disconnect the other call by pressing Flash yet again to make sure I hear a dial tone.  If I hear a dial tone, I know I am safe and haven’t made that dreaded mistake of talking about my prospect with my sponsor on my prospect’s answering machine.  I can't tell you how many times someone has called me up with a supposed "Heavy Hitter" on the line...because they know I have a track record of success in this industry, only to hear them talking about me on my answering machine.  It’s hilarious...and a mistake you definitely DO NOT want to make. 

 

Now that you know the basic technical stuff, and the big NO-NO's, let’s talk about the way to effectively use 3-way calling to make you money.  The most widely used 3-way call is for 3rd party validation and support from your upline.  So...here’s how it goes. 

You’re on the phone with your prospect.  You have taken them to review some information about your opportunity:  a live call, recorded call, a website, whatever it is that you do to present your business.  The person responds favorably to the initial exposure.  You then do the following.  Say, "Joe...can you hang on for a second."  Of course, they’ll say, "Sure".  People are used to hearing that.  Then...you simply press Flash and dial your sponsor or upline support person’s number.  Now...pay close attention.  This time it’s a little different.  Instead of you flashing right back and bringing the parties together...this is your quick opportunity to have a chat on the side with your sponsor to get them up to speed on who you are doing to be introducing to them.  Here’s what I do.  I dial my sponsor...and, if they answer, I say, "Susan...this is Todd.  You got a minute?  I’ve got a prospect on the line who just listened to our 20-minute live call.  He says he’s an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10.  He has a background in sales but has never done MLM.  He sounds sharp.  Can you do the call?" 

 

If she says, "yes".  I say, "Great...hang on.  I’ll introduce you to him."  THEN...I press flash and bring the call together.  That took a total of about 20 to 30 seconds.  The prospect had no idea I was bringing on my upline. And quite frankly, it doesn’t matter.  It’s not for him or her to decide. 

 

Too many people make the OTHER crucial mistake of asking for permission to do a 3-way call.  Nix that idea out of your head.  You don’t need to ask.  You are in control.  Don’t ever ask for permission to do a 3-way.  Now, when I bring back my sponsor on the line, here’s what happens. I say to my prospect, "Joe...you back with me?  Great!  Listen.  I was able to grab a business partner of mine who is incredibly successful in the network marketing industry.  This is a woman you will be working with as well.  She is a top

earner and trainer with our company and one of the most-respected people in the entire industry.  Susan...this is Joe.  Joe this is Susan." 

 

Then...I shut up.  I don’t say a peep.  The third crucial mistake people make in 3-way calling is interrupting their upline by saying things like, "Susan, don’t forget to tell him about this or that."  You have just blown the entire upline edification process.  You introduced your prospect to an upline who you built up as an expert.  The expert KNOWS what to say and do.  You do not need to interrupt or interject.  You’ll know when it is appropriate to talk.  This isn’t totally black and white...but for a great

majority of people, don’t say anything.  Regarding the term upline edification...here’s what I did.  I introduced my sponsor or upline as an expert.  I gave some stats.  I made her sound like the successful person that she is.  I didn’t lie.  I created automatic authority and respect in the mind of my prospect for my upline.  Clue in on this one folks.  It’s important.  Build them up.  If I just said, "Hey Joe...this is Susan, a girl with our company."  What does that do?  Nothing.  Use the edification part to your advantage.  But, don’t build your person up to something that they’re not.  And, please definitely, DO NOT lie.

Hey Todd,

Awesome article buddy! Very well thought-out, and in-depth! One thing that I've found, is that "phone-pobia" is very real. In other words, there are MANY network marketers out there that literally SWEAT the idea of making a phone call of ANY sort (not just cold calling). A lot of times, distributors are afraid to pick up the phone just to collect a DECISION from the potential prosect (even knowing full well that the prospect has seen the company presentation, etc.).

So yes - long story short, 3-way calls is a GREAT way to help someone feel less nervous.

However - the next step UP from 3-way calling (in my opinion), is to promote a business opportunity that does NOT require you to talk on the phones AT ALL (only at the higher levels). In other words - complete automation...100% online.

For new distributors, the idea of NEVER having to talk to ANYONE is often a welcome relief. Their only job in companies like these, is to DRIVE TRAFFIC! Now obviously - there has to be a few things in place if the idea of "never talking to anyone" is to become a reality.

For instance..

1) The company that you promote can have a Call Center to close all of your sales (as was the case of Mike Dillard's last Network Marketing affiliation...which also happens to be one of the companies that I promote).

2) The company has a fantastic web site presentation, tremendous training resources, and an EXCELLENT FAQ section (in which case, the prospect has all the information at his/her disposal and as result, doesn't need anything else to be clarified). Still - even under this scenario, there WILL be many people that will want to ask some questions (and rightly so!).

Regardless however - NO ONE should EVER have to do a cold call. Any program that requires cold calling or prospect chasing, is an outdated and inferior program in my opinion. Those tactics may have been "smart" in 1998, but it's not the case anymore.

I'm so glad to see an article about this. I totally agree that three way calls work!

And I'm glad you mentioned one of the most important things of all, after we have introduced our upline to let him or her do all the talking from that point on. Towards the end of the call the upline will always bring it back to the person who made the original call, but its crucial when we have our upline on the phone to let them do the job we have asked them to do. Its the third party validation and it definitely works!

Hi Team,

I want to share with you some powerful new skills for building your MLM business. I learned these from listening to Tom 'Big Al' Schreiter's seminar tapes on IceBreakers. (Big Al has a great website at: http://www.fortunenow.com/ . )

Here are the basics of what I learned that can help you.

We all talk to people. The problem is we often say the wrong thing. We're all comfortable with "Hi, how ya' doing? How's the weather?" but there's a big gap between "Hi, how's the weather?" and "Hi, do you want to be a distributor?"

That big gap scares us and keeps us silent. We don't talk to people and nobody joins our business. The problem is if we don't know what to say, we'll have no one to talk to. We have to get this right.

There's a saying circling around out there in network marketing, "You can't say the wrong thing to the right person and you can't say the right thing to the wrong person?" This idea is somehow supposed to give us free reign to just blurt out anything to anyone. The problem: it doesn't work and it's not truthful. You can say the wrong thing to the right person.

As proof, Big Al weaves this delightful tale. Imagine you're a handsome single guy at a party and you see this attractive lady across the room. Excited at the prospect of meeting someone, you walk over, introduce yourself and make some small talk. Then, out of the blue, you say something like, "Wow, how old are you anyway?" followed by "How much do you really weigh?" and then "Who does your hair like that?"

Needless to say, that nice lady is not going to stick around very long. And you will leave thinking, "I hate going to these parties. You can't meet anyone here. Nothing ever works out for me."

It's not that nothing works out for you, it's that you just don't know what to say. You can, and did, say the wrong thing to the potentially right person.

Skills make a difference. In fact, the only difference between those who make tons of money in network marketing and those who don't is what they say. We need skills to get the job done correctly, efficiently, powerfully and passionately.

There's a big difference between dreaming of being a great musician and sitting down and practicing your scales every day. Skills are the foundation for greatness in any endeavor, including MLM.

These skills include knowing what to say, when to say it and how to say it. Trust me on this. I just got back from the Diamond Destination and I watched the big leaders signing up people left and right at the hotel before the cruise even began! How do they do it I wondered? So I asked.

Turns out, they intuitively know (or they have learned and totally assimilated that knowledge into their very being) what to say to people, when to say it and how to say it, in a way that people respond. For those of us who don't know how to do that yet, we are obliged to learn. That is the reason Jim Rohn says, "In order to have more, you need to become more." We need to become more skilled in what we say, when we say it and how we say it. So let's get to it.

There are four main categories of ice-breakers that we can use. For today's post, I'll go over the first category only. Then I will introduce the others to you in future posts.

Category 1 Ice-Breakers: Here's the formula for category 1 ice-breakers:

I just found out ____________________. If you'd like to know more about it, I'll be happy to tell you. In the meantime, please _____________.

For example, you're sitting at dinner next to a friend or relative and you say, "You know Joe, I just found out how to get an extra paycheck every week. If you'd like to know more about it, I'll be happy to tell you. In the meantime, can you please pass the peas."

This icebreaker opens up the conversation, without you dumping any company information, product information or pressure on friends and relatives. It just lets your friends in on a benefit that they may be interested and leaves it up to them to decide if they want it or not. No pressure, no rejection, no worries.

Another example might be, "You know Sally, I just found out how we can make more money part time than our husbands do full time. If you'd like to know more about it, I'll be happy to tell you. In the meantime, let's get back to shopping."

You get the idea. Those are company benefits, but you can also use product benefits. For example, "You know Joan, I just found out how to get the antioxidant power of 13 fruits and vegies a day into my kids diets and they love it. If you'd like to know more about it, I'll be happy to tell you. In the meantime, pass the ketchup."

Big Al says that "I just found out" are the most powerful four words he has ever found in 35 years of network marketing. Why? Because they almost compel us to find out more. It's sneaks into our brain and triggers our curiosity button. We just can't stop ourselves from wanting to know what they just found out.

So that's it for today guys. If you really want to succeed in network marketing, take 15 minutes today and practice your category 1 ice-breakers.

Mastery comes from practicing the fundamentals. Don't skip this part. You can't just read about it, you need to practice these ice-breaking skills. There's a story about an intellectual who thought he could learn everything from reading. He read a book on astronomy and became an astronomer. He read a book on biology and became a biologist. He read a book on swimming and he drowned.

You can't read your way to mastery. You must practice these skills. Make them your own. Let them become a part of you. When you do, watch your business explode. You will be on your way to mastery.

If you ask someone in the Industry who is successful why there is such a high failure rate in our business, they might answer, “Well, the only way to fail is to quit.”  Seems right. Someone who is not in our industry might answer, “Well, it is a pyramid scheme.”  Not really.  Other outsiders may respond, “Only the people at the top make money.” Seems logical. All of these answers, whether valid or not, are based on one assumption…that failure in this business is WRONG.  I say failure in this business is Appropriate, and its significance is a Myth. What do I mean by that?

People seem to have a huge misconception about network marketing and the people who are involved with it. They seem to think that this is an industry of salespeople. This is a perception that not only prevents many people from succeeding in this industry, but it prevents many people outside of the industry from benefiting from it.

Now, don’t get me wrong, this is a business about making money by selling some type of product at some point. It is about building a network of people around you that you earn money from. It is about promotions, marketing, and sales. The problem is that it is NOT an industry of salespeople. This is not about convincing someone to buy stuff they may not even want or need.

This is a service industry. If you don’t understand that the goal is to help as many people as you can, you have already failed. On the one hand, you are charged with providing people with a quality product that will enrich their lives in some way. On the other, you are able to give people the power to make a positive and significant change in their lifestyle.

I once spoke to a prospect who was a car salesman. He was all about “making the sale” and “closing the deal.” He kept telling me that every conversation is about closing a sale. Coming from a sales background myself, I can understand what he is saying. Did I want him on my team? No. Never called him back.

There are a couple of ideas you should definitely take away from this article:

  • If they say “No,” then leave it alone. People don’t like to be sold. All you are doing is setting yourself up for returns and cancellations
  • If you have to “sell” someone to enroll them, you have to keep selling them to keep them on your team

Don’t set yourself up for failure. This industry is not about slick sales tactics to trick people. If this is your strategy, you will fail.

I'm serious, you should know this... and if you don't, it's ok... you can redeem yourself by reading this entire article... 

 

So last week... I was at a Texas airport, drinking my Mocha, getting ready to fly back to California, when I purchased a small book before boarding my plane called "Minute Motivators For Leaders".

The third one is a bit different though, but VERY facinating, and VERY powerful.

It should not be taken lightly... and that's "guilt".

Primarily guilt by association... or lack there of. 

Let me explain...

(This is what every Magnetic Leader knows or has read...)

"Every one of us wants to work with and learn from the best."

And there is some "extended- truth" to that statement... Everyone, including you, also wants to be "associated" with the best. 

That's what put you RIGHT HERE reading these very words! ...Whether you realize it or not.

But it's true...

We ALL want to belong, even you and me. We all want to be apart of the "insiders circle". We want to learn, know and "do" as the leaders do.  And most of all... we want to be recognized as a part of it.

This recognition will stem from our "association", which is where we sub-consiously know our recognition is going to be awarded.

So in essence, our association is where our motivation lies. All people want to be associated with the "supreme" of their industry.

It's instictive. 

Now the funny thing is it's this "instinctiveness" that compelled you to click on this article, and it's the "guilt factor" that caused you to begin reading it.

But the funnier thing is how I did it.

I simply removed "you" from the "insiders circle". I removed you from the "group of leaders". Not litterally, but with my title, I removed your "association" and you sub-consiously didn't like it!

You needed to "re-engage."

To simplify... I used "guilt and association" to force you into reading this article. And it was for a good cause... as to teach you... I have to demonstrate first hand.

I hope you're not mad. ;)

Let me show you exactly what I mean... and why this worked on you...

1.) The title contains a blatant embedded command designed to catch the "searching eye"... "READ THIS". See it at the end of the title? It's even SHOUTING in all CAPS! But it still appears subtle.

2.) "Every Magnetic Leader Has READ THIS". - This implies that "magnetic leaders" know something you may not, and if you belong to their group, then you MUST READ it too! It also might make you "uncomfortable" feeling possibly 'out of the loop' if you consider yourself to be a 'magnetic leader'. 

See how I sparked your animosity? Neat ay? 

So when writing your ads, remember association and/or guilt can be VERY POWERFUL motivators to get prospects attension!

After all... it worked on YOU! ;)

Just be sure to use it in a positive context ...or you will be banned from the "circle of leaders". ;)

Geezz… if that didn’t send chills down your spine, then let me break it down for you. Infact, let me put it into “home business” terms and examples…

  • 1) Encourage their dreams – Empower people, re-assure them the impossible IS possible.

    Implementation: In short, when you lead by example and encourage greatness and belief in others, you sub-consiously gain power over them.


  • 2) Justify their failures – Everyone has failed atleast a few times in some sort of mlm or home business.

    Implementation: Just identify why most fail (like no cashflow, buying leads, etc…) then show them that that’s why your strategies work. In essence, let them know their failed strategies are not their fault.


  • 3) Allay their fears – People taking on any new skill or business venture are naturally afraid.

    Implementation: Instead of telling them “not to be afraid”, tell them you’ll work with them and be there to assist them until their fear diminishes.

    See the persuasion “trap”? – They are now dependant on you for success, and if you live up to your word… for that, they will stay loyal. Powerful huh?  ;)

    Are you afraid?


  • 4) Confirm their suspicions – People feel gratification by finding out “they were right.

    Implementation: As entrepreneurs… we are always looking for the better, more effective, and easier way. We know a better way always exists… there must be some “holy grail” to succeeding in this industry.

    Position your offer as “the better way”, (which everyone is looking for) and assure them you are going to teach it to them. Don’t dismiss this, every entrepreneur is sub-consiously searching for this… show it to them, and they will follow you!


  • 5) Help them throw rocks at their enemies – The thing ALL your prospects struggle with, is their "enemy".

    Implementation: Identify what you know your target market hates (IE: buying leads, cold calling, etc…). Next, like anyone in a “struggle”… they want someone to join their side. Do it!

    Accompany them in dis-crediting their frustrations. Help them throw rocks at their enemies!

    When you do, you gain power as their new found friend, mentor, and business partner!

Recently, I’ve had incredible blessings literally fall on my lap as a result of being an active participant on the Magnetic Sponsoring Forum.  It is the dream of many of you who will read this article to have an opportunity to speak to any one of the incredible trainers in this community over the phone and discuss how you can help each other grow your respective businesses and form powerful partnerships which will free you from your daily struggles as a lone MLM distributor and move up to play with the “big boys”.

Since becoming a rabid student of attraction marketing via Magnetic Sponsoring, MLM Traffic Formula, Black Belt Recruiting, MLM System Formula and dozens of other Internet Marketing courses, it’s been my hope that someday I could run into Mike Dillard, Tim Erway or Tom Bell at a seminar, buy them dinner and thank them for everything they’ve done for me and the people I mentor.

And out of that dinner, I would have asked if there was anything I could do for them to add value to them…

Now I know what you are thinking. “Huh? These guys are the masters.  What could YOU do for them? They’ve got the money, the reputation, the connections… they’ve got plenty.”

Most people in this industry would go into that type of opportunity and be looking for a way to get Mike, Tim or Tom to give them a helping hand.  Figure out a way to convince them to give you an opportunity to show your stuff and that you are worthy of “playing with the big boys”.

And for this reason, Mike, Tim and Tom screen their calls, rarely give out their personal email addresses and protect their privacy against the thousands of “takers” in this industry.

You see, 95% of MLM’ers  who go out night after night into other people’s living rooms and dens to show the plan, attempt to convince strangers to join their business – in other words, they are looking for a way to have other people make them rich.

And the sad truth is that 95% of you in this community, even after reading Magnetic Sponsoring, will take an opportunity to have a word with anyone of the instructors on this site, as an opportunity for you to convince them to do something special for you – to make you rich, because your logic is that they have already made it, and since you’ve been their paying customer, they owe you something.

Well, I’m here to tell you they’ve already given you everything you need.  They’ve given you an opportunity to invest in their courses, tele-clinics and now an opportunity to participate in this community -- which in my opinion, is the greatest opportunity for networking you could ever dream of.

What you should now be looking to do is to search deep within yourself and see what is the greatest contribution you can make to Mike Dillard, Tim Erway and the Magnetic Sponsoring community to thank them for everything they’ve already done for you.  What special gift do you have? What special talent do you have which you can use to enhance this community and make everybody else better.

THAT SHOULD BE YOUR GOAL!

Creating the Next-Generation MLM Warrior Forum

Some of you in internet marketing are already aware that there is a forum out there called the Warrior Forum.  It’s a community of internet marketers, which got started back in the late 90’s as a way to help internet entrepreneurs network & exchange ideas.  This forum has been responsible for many of the internet marketing industry’s powerful partnerships and massive successes of big names you see today – Mike Filsaime, Gary Ambrose, Russell Brunson, Stu McLaren, Ewen Chia among many others.

The key to their success in IM, was that when they participated in the forum they approached it as an opportunity to add value to others and form meaningful relationships.  The exchange of teachings, ideas, and the infamous ‘warrior special offer’ was the forums real value. 

A ‘warrior special offer’ is an opportunity for someone to offer a new info product they haven’t released yet at a ridiculous discount to other warriors in exchange for feedback and people’s honest opinion.

The vision I recently formed for the Magnetic Sponsoring’s Advanced MLM Training Forum is to become the Next-Generation Warrior Forum for the MLM Industry.  A place that is unique and different from all the hype and sales pitches.  A place where true leaders come and exchange valuable tips and ideas, where the sole objective is to make this community and its members better.

I’m sure you noticed already some of the crap that people have been putting up as articles, videos and forum postings on this site.  If it’s not a sales pitch, it’s a weak attempt at putting something out there to hopefully create a backlink and some traffic to their opportunity website.

I spoke to one of the leaders in this community recently and he agreed the worst thing about sifting through the content on this great site, was running into the posers who clearly only wanted to “hype” people into their business.

But among all the smoke, mirrors and cheesy sales pitches, thinly guised as content, I saw an opportunity to do something powerful.

I dug into my bag of most prized marketing strategies, pulled out something really juicy, created a video explaining the concept and posted the video on a fresh new thread on the forum.  I was initially very concerned, because I knew how valuable the information was and according to Mike Dillard, I “should be charging for content like that”.

I wanted to make a statement, set myself apart and hopefully attract a few of the strong leaders on this community into a great exchange of ideas and provide them some great value as well. 

What I did not expect was have Mike, and Tim start a flurry of discussion on SEO and internet marketing on that very same forum, as only true leaders can. What I did not expect was to have my name mentioned on Mike’s copywriting tele-clinic as someone he would like to help. What I did not expect is to be speaking to Mike Dillard and Tim Erway on the phone a few weeks later about ways for Raymond and I to be able to provide more teaching and value on a more official basis to the Magnetic Sponsoring community.

And I write this with tears coming from my eyes, because I’m so fired up about it!

At long last, I was speaking to 2 of the people responsible for changing the course of my business and life – it was one of the most humbling experiences of my life.  To think that I could actually do something  to help these two MLM giants and actually make a real impact and contribution to help THEM reach their goals.

My hope for this community is that it becomes a place, which is different from the rest of the industry --  a place where people come to provide value as their first objective, and grow their business as only a secondary one.

If you’ve posted a video on this community, where your only objective was to create traffic for your website -- remove it! 

If you’ve posted an article, which you wrote for the sake of getting exposure, but provided no real value – delete it! 

If you posted something about your opportunity, without any real plan to lead new recruits towards success and only looking to get a few commissions from them joining – retract it!

Let’s strip this site of anything what wouldn’t be worthy of the vision I described above, and the vision that Mike has set out to create.

(notice my last question? - questions are engaging and involve you in my writing.... keeping you glued to this page.... again cool, huh? ;)

Now, the purpose of this article today, is to emphasize on the fact that everyone responds to 'flattery".... YOU, me.... everyone!

... And you can use this to your advantage! When you "flatter" your prospects, whether it be on the phone... in an email... or on a webpage... (heck, even it this article ;) ) ... you entice your reader or listener to "open-up" and WANT to talk to you.

Why?

Because you have "flattered" them on their favorite subject..... THEMSELVES!

Why do you think on most my forum posts, I make it a point to compliment everyone in the forum? ...Because THEY, like everyone else, will resond to "flattery"!

Now, a quick note... I NEVER would give a compliment that I didnt feel to be true... and you shouldnt either. But what's important to realize, is that everyone needs to be "recognized" for their work.

(This is the biggest problem with "employers"... is that they dont give proper recognition and appreciation to those "running the show."

...But YOU can!

Infact, as a demonstration... when I call people back who have filled out an application to work with me... right after I say "hello" on the phone,  I introduce myself and say... "by the way, impressive application!"

...That statement "opens them up" so to speak, and now because I've "flattered" them... they want to tell me ALL about themselves and why they were looking at my business!

(again, I dont say this to everyone, but most of them who I can see an impressive accomplishment from)

Bottom line is flattery works! 

Use "flattery" in your conversations, emails, websites, etc. 

-That's what you will do now since you're an educated and smart home business owner RIGHT? ;)

Boy, I think my girlfriend is going to kill me, if she ever finds this article.  One thing is for sure, any political aspirations I may have had are now toast.

 

Either way, someone has to tell the truth around here so it might as well be me.

 

This past Saturday, I attended an all day Leadership workshop.  Part of the workshop was to draw up a game plan for the week and work it.  Your game plan has to do with coming out of your comfort zone and doing something extraordinary as it relates to a community project we are working on.

 

Well one of my fellow participants, Carl, was trying to break out of his shell and invented the possibility of meeting a woman, having the courage to talk to her and overcome his fear of rejection. 

 

So a few of the guys there had some history of success in that department and took upon themselves to coach Carl and produce results that same night -- one of them had a girlfriend, and the other was married, so they were also living vicariously through Carl. 

 

I tagged along because a beer sounded like a good idea after along day of working on my leadership skills and I like watching train wrecks, but I did add value to Carl by giving him some of my MLM prospecting pointers. ;)

 

The Night Begins at Sharkeez

 

So we went down to Sharkeez in Manhattan Beach, Ca., grabbed a pitcher of beer and started coaching Carl and holding him accountable for taking action. 

 

First thing he needed to do was just overcome his fear and just have a simple conversation.  So he walked over to someone and had a 20 second conversation, then scooted back over to the table we were at.

 

First Victory: Open your mouth.

 

So now that we knew he was willing to take action, we set out to create a specific game plan.  Now this is where you need to listen closely, because if you want to have any shot at using the Magnetic Sponsoring community to grow your business, then this game plan is for you too.

 

I’ll be explaining what we told Carl, then translate that to how it works for using MagneticSponsoring.com to grow your business.

 

Step 1: Have something interesting or of value to share

 

Carl wanted advice on what he should talk about when he starts a conversation with a woman. 

 

Well, since part of the Leadership workshop included a community project,  we simply said, “Talk about your project.  Share with her what you are up to and why it means so much to you.  Be genuine.”

 

Now this was key advice, because it allowed Carl to be himself, talk about something he cares about, while at the same time being different from all the other sleaze balls at the bar.

 

So he walked up to one of the women at the bar and started sharing.  It was incredible, she was totally into the conversation.  I’m willing to bet $1,000 that no one has ever walked up to her and started sharing with her about a community project. 

 

He talked to her for a few minutes, then excused himself and returned to our table.

 

For the Magnetic Sponsoring Members

 

Everyday on this community you have an abundant number of opportunities to do the same thing Carl did.  There are new members coming in every day.  One thing that has produced results for me is checking out a new members profile, reading their profile, watch any videos or articles they may have posted, then send them a private message introducing myself and giving them REAL advice on how they can use Magnetic Sponsoring to grow their business.

 

For example, there was someone on this community who was a fan of Dennis Karganilla and I had just finished having a training call with Dennis for our Attraction Marketing Formula subscribers.  I sent her a message, saying that I enjoyed her video and that if she was serious about using Social Networking to market her business, then MS.com was the perfect place to apply the things she was learning from Dennis.

 

She responded and asked how she could do that?  So I replied and explained how to use MS.com effectively, based on my experience.  A couple of days later, she opted into my list and became a customer, and she was happy to do so.

 

People really appreciate unsolicited advice in this environment, because 90% of members on this community are asking themselves the same question, “How do I use MS.com to grow my business?” Answer that question and you are an ‘Instant Leader’. 

 

Be sure to be specific in your answers and DON’T talk about your business.

 

Note: The following are universal principles and can be applied by women, also.

 

Step 2: Leave on a High Note and Leave Early

 

Carl was very proud of himself, but the work was not done yet.  Carl did something that was key to his success in attracting someone of the opposite sex – he stopped the conversation at its peak and excused himself.  We told him it was good that he did that.
